Evergreen

Having grown up in the Northeast, January still brings images of snow encircling the bases of resting trees, while evergreens with varying green hues sprinkle the quiet landscape. For me, evergreens contrast with this dormant scene.

They have always stood out to me. I’m not sure if my evergreen love is associated with the spirit of Christmas they represent, or the memories of our giant hemlock fence that bordered my childhood home. Perhaps, it is simply the life they keep, even during winter’s slumber. How sturdy and loyal they stand to the fortunate observer. Always true. Unwavering. Alive, even during the coldest of seasons.

Meandering along life’s path, both personally and professionally, naturally brings times of winter. Moments filled with barren feelings. Challenge. Cold. Decisions. Darkness. Confusion. Fear. Need. At these times, identifying and treasuring your “Evergreens” can beautify the present and strengthen your move forward.

Who are your constants, your “Evergreens,” that withstand the test of time and remain true with each passing season? Equally important, who would call you their “Evergreen?”

This year, share more time with your “Evergreens.” It will enhance your leadership spirit in all aspects of life
